Part 1: Welcome to the Legal Training Course

The purpose of this course provide social service providers working with unaccompanied children (UCs) an overview of the legal considerations for the population. Participants will gain insight into the role of the social service provider, government agencies, and immigration court. Additionally, attendees will review the different forms of legal relief available to immigrant children as well as learn about specific policies and forms relevant to social service providers and UCs.

Training Objectives:

  • Increase understanding of the role of social service providers and government agencies
  • Build familiarity with the flow of UCs through the immigration system and court process
  • Explore the various forms of legal relief available to immigrant children
  • Understand the requirements and regulations regarding the EOIR system as well as changing addresses and/or venues
